According to preliminary data during the first quarter of 2022 in comparison with the same quarter of 2021, the goods carried increased (by 2.2%), while the transport performance from the freight land and water transport decreased by 7.9%.
Compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year the number of transported passengers by passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) rose by 15.6%. The transport performance also increased by 19.9% compared to first quarter of 2021.
Tourist Trips and Tourism-related Expenditure of the Population in the First Quarter of 2022 (preliminary data)
In the first quarter of 2022, during the continuing epidemic situation in the country, 703.4 thousand Bulgarian residents made tourist trips. The majority - 87.9% of them travelled only within the country, 10.8% - only abroad and 1.3% - both within the country and abroad. Compared to the same quarter of 2021, the total number of the travelled persons aged 15 and over increased by 53.9%.

In October 2021, the survey shows an increase of the pessimism in consumers’ assessments and expectations in comparison with July. The total consumer confidence indicator decreases by 10.8 percentage points compared to its level 3 months ago, which is due to the decreased confidence among both rural and urban inhabitants - by 11.9 and 10.2 percentage points, respectively.

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute at the end of December 2020 the number of employees under labour contract decreased by 0.9% as compared to the end of September 2020 and reached 2.23 million.

Activity of accommodation establishments in July 2020
In July 2020, during the continuing epidemic situation, 2 768 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 112.9 thousand and the bed-places were 251.4 thousand. In comparison with July 2019, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) decreased by 18.4%, and the bed-places in them - by 22.5%.

According to the preliminary data, in July 2020 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 0.4% below the level of the previous month. In July 2020 the working day adjusted index of production in construction decreased by 3.9% in comparison with the same month of 2019.

According to preliminary data annual reports on their activity for 2019 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute by 418 616 non-financial enterprises and the number of persons, employed in them, was 2 211 342. These enterprises generated 194 504 million BGN of production value and reported a positive financial result of 19 259 million BGN.

Total Producer Price Index in July 2020 rose by 2.4% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the prices fell by 2.1%. Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in July 2020 increased by 1.6% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the domestic prices fell by 0.7%.

In August 2020, the total business climate indicator increases by 0.5 percentage points in comparison with the previous month, which is due to the more favourable business climate in service sector.
Goods and passengers carried and transport performance by mode of transport in the second quarter of 2020 (preliminary data)
According to preliminary data during the second quarter of 2020 in comparison with the same period of 2019 the goods carried and the transport performance by the freight land and water transport increased, respectively by 6.1% and 0.2%.
In the second quarter of 2020 there was a decrease both in the transported passengers (by 47.5%) and the transport performance (by 62.6%) from the passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) compared to the same period of the previous year.

In July 2020, during the continuing epidemic situation in the country, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 316.6 thousand, or by 59.4% under the registered in July 2019.
In July 2020, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 705.6 thousand or by 66.1% less in comparison with July 2019.

According to the preliminary data for the second quarter of 2020 the total turnover index in section ‘Transportation, storage and post’, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data decreased by 21.8% compared to the first quarter of 2020. In section ‘Information and communication’ the turnover index decreased by 4.4%.
Tourist Trips and Tourism-related Expenditure of the Population in Second Quarter of 2020 (preliminary data)
In the second quarter of 2020, in a state of emergency and the ensuing epidemic situation in the country, 447.2 thousand Bulgarian residents made tourist trips. The majority (92.7%) of them travelled only within the country, 6.8% - only abroad and 0.5% - both in the country and abroad. Compared to the same quarter of 2019 the total number of the travelled persons aged 15 and over decreased by 63.3%.
