Data description | The first column contains detailed data (starting balance, changes during the year, final balance) on pension entitlements of persons insured in all second and third pillar funds in Bulgaria that meet the requirements of ESA 2010 to be classified as a pension scheme. The second column contains detailed data (starting balance, changes during the year, final balance) on pension entitlements of persons insured in the public social security pension scheme (the National Social Security Institute – NSSI). For the purpose of calculating the indicators in this column a special statistical actuarial model for pension entitlements is used; the model was created and elaborated in BNSI based on the guidelines of the "Technical Compilation Guide for Pension Data in National Accounts". |

Pension entitlements in social insurance, 2019 - 2021
The accrued-to-date pension entitlements in the beginning of 2021 (closing balance of 2020) amount to 231 010 mln. BGN which consists of 213 721 mln. BGN liabilities of Social security pension schemes (Public social security - First pillar of the Bulgarian pension system) and 17 289 mln. BGN liabilities of Defined contribution schemes (Supplementary Mandatory Pension Insurance and Supplementary Voluntary Pension Insurance - Second and Third pillar of the Bulgarian pension system).

Pension entitlements in Bulgarian social insurance for 2015
In 2018 Bulgaria publishes for the first time data on pension entitlements in social insurance for 2015. The accrued-to-date liabilities at the beginning of 2015 (closing balance of 2014) are 144 145 mln. BGN and the accrued-to-date liabilities at the end of 2015 are 149 879 mln. BGN or 169% of GDP.
