The National Statistical Institute has launched a project “Streamlining of the SBS, FATS and PRODCOM legal framework in the context of the integration of business statistics (FRIBS)”which is carried out in accordance with the Grant agreement with the European Commission № 06123.2013.002-2013.292.

The general objectives of the project are:

• Compilation of quarterly statistics on legal unit’s registrations, deregistration and bankruptcies.

The Library of the National Statistical Institute has published "Census of January 1, 1888" and "Census of January 1, 1893." digital collections.

Users of statistical information have free of charge online access to nearly 10,000 digital pages statistical information about the population by age, marital status, birthplace, residence, mother tongue, literacy, nationality, towns, districts and others.

The Statistical Organizational Unit of the Ministry of Finance was founded on June 25, 1880 by a Royal Decree No 296. Today, our institution turns 133. There are very few public institutions in Bulgaria with similar worthy age.

The NSI President Reneta Indjova, Ph.D. will participate in the 17^th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC), which will be held in the premises of Eurostat in Luxembourg on 15-16 May 2013. This is the second out of four ESSC meetings for the calendar year, chaired by Eurostat and attended by the Heads of National Statistical Offices of the Member States and representatives of EFTA countries, ECB and OECD.

Today, 8.05.2013, Annex for cooperation and exchange of information between the National Statistical Institute and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was signed at the National Statistical Institute, as part of an agreement for cooperation and strategic partnership between NSI and Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

On 29/04/2013, at the invitation of the President of NSI Ph.D. Reneta Indjova, at the National Statistical Institute was held a meeting with Mr. Svilen Donev - student at First English Language School in Sofia, who won third prize in the international competition to produce a video on the occasion "2013 - International Year of Statistics" with a video titled "Statistics - Grammar of Science".

The President of NSI handed the winner a special congratulatory award-memorial coin "2013 - International Year of Statistics."
