NSI experts are consulting Algerian statisticians in the field of classifications and nomenclatures

In relation to a request for technical assistance by the National Statistical Office of Algeria experts from the department of “Strategic planning, international projects and quality management” of NSI will provide training in the field of classifications and nomenclatures. The expert mission is going to take place on 17 and 18 September 2013 in the capital of Algeria. The visit is funded by the instrument of the European Commission for implementation of the acquis - TAIEX, which provides short-term technical assistance in form of seminars, study visits and expert missions. Beneficiaries of TAIEX are candidate countries and potential candidates for EU membership and since June 2006 - Russia and the countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy (including Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine).
During the training Bulgarian statisticians are going to introduce their Algerian colleagues to the implementation of the classifications in the practice of the Bulgarian NSI, as well as the IT- tools for classifications management. During the visit the Bulgarian experts Galia Stateva and Emilia Gelentzova are going to give presentations on the following topics:
• Application of EU nomenclatures in the BNSI;
• Implementation of ISCO Classification (International Standard Classification of Occupations) in Bulgarian statistical practice;
• BNSI Information System “Statistical classifications”.
This is the first visit of statisticians from the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria in Algeria and its results will be a good basis for further development of the bilateral relations between the two institutions.
