National Statistical Institute – Host of an International Conference for Geostatistics

In partnership with the National Statistical Institute from 23 to 25 of October 2013, Sofia will host the sixth consecutive European Forum for Geostatistics (EFGS).

The European Forum for Geostatistics is a professional network of experts from 40 countries, including representatives of the national statistical institutions.

The Conference of the European Forum for Geostatistics is held annually and is among the most important events in the field of Geostatistics in Europe. The topic of this conference in Sofia is "Spatial Statistics from different data sources" with focus on identifying the users’ information needs.

The forum will be attended by the President of EFGS, the Executive Director of EFGS, representatives of Eurostat and DG "Regional and Urban Policy" of the European Commission. The participants registered for the conference are experts from 26 countries - representatives of national statistical institutions and the academic community, private sector, producers and users of geostatistical, spatial data and products. Bulgarian participants in the conference will include representatives of Bulgarian ministries and organisations that develop geographic information systems or institutions responsible for development and application of spatial data.

Dr. Reneta Indjova, Ph.D, President of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria will open the conference of the European Forum for Geostatistics at 12:00 am, on October 23, 2013 in the conference room of the Radisson Blue Grand Hotel, "National Assembly" Square.
