NSI starts the preparation for 2021 Population and Housing Census
The National Statistical Institute held an information meeting with the central media where the start of the preparation for the 18th population and housing census in the Republic of Bulgaria was announced.
The census will be conducted in 2021. The census year is the same for all EU Member states and it is determined in the Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/712 establishing the reference year and the programme of the statistical data and metadata for population and housing censuses.
National Statistical Institute releases updated population projection up to 2080
National Statistical Institute releases updated population projection up to 2080. A starting point of the projection is the population as of 31.12.2016, and the projection takes into account the number of demographic events in 2017. The projected population is distributed by sex and single ages for every year of the projected period. Data is published by five-year age groups and calendar periods. The population projection by districts and sex up to 2080 is also updated.
Bulgaria handed over the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the field of statistics to Austria
On 26 June 2018 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky officially handed over the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics to the Director General of Statistics Austria Dr. Konrad Pesendorfer.
Mr. Tsvetarsky made an overview of the main results of the Bulgarian Presidency’s work on the legislative proposals in the field of statistics with a focus on the last tripartite negotiations with the European Parliament and the European Commission and the possible next steps for making progress on the open files.
Another regulation in the field of statistics successfully goes through trilogue
On 21 June 2018 at the European Parliament’s premises in Brussels, tripartite negotiations (trilogue) were held between the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission on the proposal for a Regulation on Integrated European Social Statistics (IESS).
The aim of the regulation is to create a common framework for European statistics relating to persons and households, based on data at individual level collected from samples.
‘Better Cooperation, Better Data Quality’ Conference will be held in Sofia
The National Statistical Institute and Eurostat will host a Conference for the European statistical data users in Bulgaria - Better Cooperation, Better Data Quality, which will be held on June 25th, 2018 at Hilton Hotel in Sofia.
The event is held within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and on the occasion of the 138th anniversary of the establishment of the official statistical institution in Bulgaria.
Last meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Bulgarian Presidency
The main topic of the last meeting of the Working Party on Statistics held under the Bulgarian Presidency on 14 June 2018 was the Proposal for a Framework Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics and repealing 10 legal acts in the field of business statistics (FRIBS). The discussions focused on the legal architecture of the proposal, as well as the content of the delegated and the implementing acts.
Fifth meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics
The main topic of the meeting of the Working Party on Statistics, which was held on 29 May 2018, was the European Commission’s Proposal for a Framework Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics amending Regulation (EC) No 184/2005 and repealing 10 legal acts in the field of business statistics (FRIBS). The discussions focused on the compromise text on Articles 1 to 27 prepared by the Bulgarian Presidency.
Meeting of Directors Generals of National Statistical Institutes was held in Sofia
The National Statistical Institute hosted a Meeting of the Directors Generals of National Statistical Institutes. The event was held on 22 and 23 May under the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and was jointly organized by the Eurostat - statistical office of the European Commission, and the National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria.
