The law regulates the preparation, organization and conduction of the 2021 Population Census. Common rules for the collection, processing and dissemination of population and housing data are established and duties and responsibilities of census authorities, enumerators and controllers are defined.
A reference date to which the data collected during the population census will relate is January 22, 2021, and the survey itself will be held from January 22 to February 15, 2021. For the second time in our country, the census will take place in two stages - the first (22 - 31 January 2021) will allow for the filling in an electronic counting card, and the second (1 - 15 February 2021) will comprise of visits to households, buildings and housing by the enumerators.
After the conclusion of the Population Census, the National Statistical Institute will possess information about the number and structure of the population by sex, age, education, economic activity, occupation, economic activity and other demographic, socio-economic and ethno-cultural characteristics. The Census will also provide an information on the number and main characteristics of buildings and housing fond in the country as well as on the housing conditions. The results of the Census will be used for the needs of central and local government, businesses, the scientific community and the non-governmental sector in the country, as well as for the needs of the European statistics.
