The National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit in the field of Agrostatistics

In the period 13-14 May 2019 the National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit in the field of Agro-Monetary Statistics within the framework of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance IPA 2015 in cooperation with the German GOPA Consultants. Experts from the Statistical Offices of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro participated in the study visit.

First Bulgarian-Greek cross-border meeting between the National Statistical offices of Bulgaria and Greece

A cross-border meeting between representatives of the National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria (NSI) and the State Statistical Office of Greece (ELSTAT) was held for the first time during the period 22-23 April 2019. The first day of the meeting was held in the town of Kardjali and the second day - in Xanthi. The meeting was attended by the Presidents of the Statistical offices of Bulgaria and Greece - Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski and Mr. Atanasios Tanopoulos. Each year, the International Earth Day Network has its focus on a topical theme related to the protection of the planet. Every living creature has a unique value and plays an important role in the complex network of life. The motto of the campaign this year is "Protect our species".

April 16th is the Constitution Day and a professional celebration of jurists in Bulgaria. On this date, in 1879 was adopted the Tarnovo Constitution - the first Bulgarian constitution, which becomes the legislative basis for the socio-economic development of the newly-liberated state.

At the initiative of the Union of Jurists in Bulgaria this day has been celebrated since 1991.

The National Statistical Institute will conduct a Household Budget Survey in new households

From the beginning of April 2019 the National Statistical Institute starts a Household Budget Survey in newly selected households.

The survey is annual and it is included in the National Statistical Programme 2019. In the survey take part 3 060 randomly chosen households divided in three sub-samples each containing 1 020 households. During the April - June period households from each sub-sample are consistently included in the Household Budget Survey. Each household participates in the survey four months during the 12-month period of the method of rotation sample.

The NSI will conduct a survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2019’ during the March - May 2019 period

In March, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches conducting of the survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2019’.

Regulation No. 1177/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council establishes a common framework for systematic production of statistics in the European Union on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) which includes comparable and timely information on current status and dynamics of income, as well as the level and structure of poverty and social exclusion at national and European level.

22 March - World Water Day

Since 1993 the World Water Day has been celebrated on 22 March on the initiative of the United Nations. The aim is to highlight the importance of water and the need for its conservation. This year the campaign is held under the motto "Leaving no one behind" and addresses the right of all people to access this vital natural resource.
