The National Statistical Institute starts a Household Budget Survey in new households

From the beginning of April 2018 the National Statistical Institute starts a Household Budget Survey in newly selected households.

The survey is annual and it is included in the National Statistical Programme 2018. In the survey take part 3 060 randomly chosen households divided in three sub-samples each containing 1 020 households. During the April - June period households from each sub-sample are consistently included in the Household Budget Survey. Each household participates in the survey four months during the 12-month period of the method of rotation sample.

Study visit to NSI in the field of statistics on tourism

In the period 27 - 28 February, 2018 the National Statistical Institute hosts a two-day training, where experts from ‘Statistics on tourism and Business surveys’ Department acquainted their colleagues from the State Statistical Office of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with the Bulgarian experience in the field of statistics on tourism.

The study visit was organized within the framework of IPA 2015 Multi-Beneficiary Statistical Co-operation Programme of the European commission, with the beneficiary countries from Western Balkans and Turkey.

NSI won the ‘IT Project of the Year’ award

The National Statistical Institute (NSI) is the winner of the ‘IT Project of the Year’ award in the field of ICT for 2017 Achievement Contest. At the traditional ceremony, Atanas Temelkov, Chairperson of the State e-Government Agency (SEGA), handed the prize to the Vice-President of the NSI Bogdan Bogdanov, PhD, in the ‘Central Administration’ category for the implementation of the ‘Building Macroeconomic statistics Information System - Financial statistics and non-financial national accounts’ project.

Mariana Kotzeva appointed Director General of Eurostat

Mariana Kotzeva was appointed Director General of Eurostat by the European Commission on 21 February 2018. She is not only the first Bulgarian Director-General of the European Commission but also the first woman at the helm of Eurostat.

Ms Kotzeva held the post of Acting Director-General of Eurostat from 1 January 2017. She joined Eurostat as a special adviser in 2012, becoming its Deputy Director-General in 2014.
