The National Statistical Institute (NSI) has signed an agreement with the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) on cooperation in conducting studies and processing data related to bank financing of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country. 

NSI will assist in analyzing the search for financing opportunities for a ‘green’ transition and introducing ESG strategies (ecology, social development and corporate governance) in enterprises.

International Youth Day was first celebrated on August 12, 2000. It was proclaimed by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on December 17, 1999, on the proposal of the World Conference of Ministers for Youth, held in Lisbon from August 8 to 12, 1998. In Bulgaria, the holiday has been celebrated since 2007.

On the occasion of International Beer Day, the NSI congratulates friends, producers, and connoisseurs of the amber drink by providing up-to-date information on beer production, imports and exports, sales, and consumption.

The President of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tsvetan Simeonov. The meeting was also attended by Lyubomir Levicharov - Head of the Economic Analyses and Policies Department at the BCCI.

The participants discussed opportunities for improving cooperation between the NSI and the BCCI, as well as with all employers' organizations.

The President of the National Statistical Institute - Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, held two working meetings with the President of the Bulgarian Industrial Association’s (BIA) Board of Management – Mr Dobri Mitrev, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) – Mr Vasil Velev, and the Executive Director of the association – Mr Dobrin Ivanov.

During these meetings, the possibilities for improving cooperation between the NSI and the employers‘ organizations were discussed.

The President of the National Statistical Institute - Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina in Bulgaria - His Excellency Mr Alfredo Atanasof, who is of Bulgarian origin.

The leader of the embassy’s “Commercial Promotion” section Mr Juan Ignacio Camio Babasso and the NSI Deputy President - Mr Svilen Kolev, PhD, were also present at the meeting.

At a special ceremony today, the current President of the National Statistical Institute, Sergey Tsvetarski, handed over the office to the newly elected head of the Bulgarian statistics, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD. He passed in to the new NSI President the Decree of Prince Ferdinand issued in 1897, which established the Directorate of Statistics of the Bulgarian Principality. ‘I hand it in as a reminder for the responsibility of each principal of the national statistics so that it be at the necessary high level’, said Tsvetarski.

We are excited to announce the results of the European Statistics Competition (ESC) 2022, which was held in the school year 2021-2022.

Over 17 000 students from 19 countries signed up for the fifth edition of this statistical literacy contest.

International Children's Day traces its origins to the 1925 World Conference on Children's Health and Well-Being in Geneva. A call was made for adults to provide children with everything that promotes their well-being, regardless of their nationality, faith, or race. International celebrations began in 1950.

Children's Day in Bulgaria began in 1927 after a special decree was issued by Tsar Boris III.
