No personal information contained in unique census code

2 152 368 people have got counted electronically, show data as to 6 a.m. today, 28th September. Every one who has filled in their questionnaire online successfully has received a unique census code on their email address.

The e-census code is a 15-digit one and contains official coded information – about the municipality, control area and census section where the household is located. There is no personal information in it that could be used by another person. That's why people shouldn't worry that it could be abused.

20 census help centres work across country

20 help centres where NSI experts assist people to get counted function throughout the country. Everyone who wants to get counted electronically, but cannot do it on themselves at home, can visit such a centre. There they will be provided with a tablet or computer to do it and all their questions will be answered. People who want to be counted by a paper questionnaire but do not want to wait for the enumerator at home, are also welcome. You can see the addresses of the help centres here and most of them work also at weekends.

In 6 regions already over 50% counted population

3 244 750 persons in the country have filled in successfully the questionnaire or have been counted by enumerators, show the data at the beginning of the day yesterday, 24th September. 1 652 935 are the dwellings counted.

For a week, since 18th September over 1.3 million people have been counted by paper. In 6 regions more than half of the population has been counted. The ranking is kept by Pernik (54%), followed by Sofia (capital city), Lovech, Ruse, Vratsa and Plovdiv.

Possible extension of census with enumerators by a few more days

‘As to 6 a.m. today 1 937 000 persons got counted electronically, which means that they will outreach 2 million by the end of the day.’  This was the beginning of the conversation with the President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) Sergey Tsvetarsky in the show "This Morning" on bTV on Friday. He added that the greatest percentage of people counted electronically is in Sofia – almost 50%. The second place keeps Varna with 35,5%. In Kardzhali and Smolyan they are around 10%, said Tsvetarsky.

Enumerators shall not ask for identity documents and shall not give declarations for signature

The enumerators who are to visit people at their homes, shall fill in only a questionnaire. Therein shall not be filled in any data from the personal identity documents of people except their names and Personal Identification Number. Nowhere signature shall be required.

The enumerators shall not have the right to ask for your identity card, driver’s licence or passport or to give you for signature declarations, applications or any other document whatsoever.

Nearly quarter of country population counted online

1 707 458 people got counted online up to now, show data as to 6 a. m. today. 100 000 people got counted for twenty-four hours. Also 686 459 dwellings were counted where 748 748 households live.

The lowest are the e-census rates in the regions of Kardzhali, Razgrad and Silistra. In Kardzhali the persons counted electronically are still below one-tenth of the region population.

Plovdiv caught up with Varna

37.5% of the population of each of the towns of Plovdiv and Varna got counted online so far, show the data as to 11 a.m. today, 20th September. In comparison, the electronically counted in Sofia are already 40.8%.

How can you be sure that the person who rings your doorbell is an enumerator?

First – the enumerator must show their official card, on which there are their photo, three names and identification number given by NSI.

Second – the enumerator must inform you clearly about the goal of the census and show you a questionnaire which has on its back a letter by NSI President where the goals of the census are described.

One fifth of population counted electronically to this day, women more active than men

As to 6 a.m. today, 18th September, 1 327 801 persons got counted electronically or it is one fifth of the population in the country. They live in 584 236 households throughout the country.

625 245 persons got registered in the e-census system, out of which 59.4% are women. The most active are the women between 40 and 49 years. The registrations made by men are 40,6%.

Enumerators start rounds tomorrow

The enumerators start the rounds in the sections fixed beforehand tomorrow, on 18th September, and will continue being on their rounds until 3rd October. They will make visits between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day, also at weekends and on  public holidays.

Their task will be to describe all residential buildings, uninhabited dwellings and to count the households which did not get counted online or which do not intend to do it electronically by 30th September.
