Trifon Zarezan (Day of the Vinegrower) is a Bulgarian folk holiday in honour of St. Trifon. It is celebrated on February 1 or February 14 (old style) and marks the beginning of the spring cycle of agricultural work related to the cultivation of vineyards. The main ritual is pruning, which rejuvenates the plantation and ensures a healthy and fruitful harvest.
With regard to a statement by a person claiming to be a former employee of the National Statistical Institute on the air of Nova TV that he was attacked by a colleague and that the NSI is covering up the case, we should note that his claims are manipulative and largely untrue.
In October 2022, we received a report of a conflict between two NSI employees, as a result of which an investigation was immediately appointed and the institutions with jurisdiction were referred. The NSI management immediately took the following actions in the case:

January 13 is the Day of Bulgarian Cinema.
On this date in 1915, the first screening of the first Bulgarian feature film, ‘Bulgarian is a Gallant’, took place. It was directed by Vasil Gendov, who also played the role of Bulgaran.
In 2005, the day was declared a professional holiday for cinema workers and an official day of Bulgarian cinema.
The President of the National Statistical Institute Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD and the Minister of Youth and Sports Vesela Lecheva signed an Agreement on cooperation and strategic partnership in the exchange of information. The document regulates the provision of statistical data by the NSI and the information systems of the MYS, metadata and methodologies, as well as the possibility of conducting additional statistical research and ensuring access of the NSI to the information systems and registers of the MYS in accordance with the Law on Statistics.

Experts from the statistical offices of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina are taking part in a 3-day visit to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute within the framework of the 'IPA 2019 project Multinational Statistical Cooperation Program in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey for future EU membership'. The purpose of the visit is to provide methodological assistance in the calculation of consumer price indices and purchasing power parities.
On November 7, 2022, the 'Statistical Surveys - Sliven' Department at RSB - Yugoiztok organized a solemn ceremony for awarding diplomas to students from the Professional High School of Economics 'Prof. Dr Dimitar Tabakov' - Sliven, winners in the statistical contest for infographics, the first of its kind in the country on the topic: 'Statistics are fun. Official statistics through the eyes of students'. Incentive prizes were presented as well for 'talking' infographics.
The event was held in the building of the Regional Administration - Sliven the hall 'Georgi Danchev'.
The National Statistical Council unanimously adopted the Report on implementation of the National Statistical Programme and the activity of the NSI in 2022 and the National Statistical Program for 2023 at its present meeting.
The student holiday has been celebrated in Bulgaria on December 8 since 1916.
This year, 226 981 students will celebrate in our country.
Another 1 560 000 people with higher education have a reason to celebrate this day, according to data from the 2021 Census.
