Website of Census 2011

The National Statistical Institute has developed a specialized website for the Census of the Population and Housing in Bulgaria in 2011.

At /census2011/ information can be found about the legislation and the census methodology, the history of censuses in Bulgaria from 1880 till today, as well as links to the EUROSTAT website on data from censuses in other EU Member States.

Bulgarian students who live and study abroad visited the NSI

On 27^th June 2010 students who are living and studying abroad visited the National Statistical Institute. The visit was organized at the initiative of the Agency for Bulgarians Abroad.

Students who study in different universities in the US, Britain, Austria, Belgium and elsewhere, got acquainted with the Digital Library and expressed their satisfaction with the fact that they will be able to use Bulgarian statistical publications from different parts of the world.

Delegation from the Ministry of Finance of Tadzhikistan on a study visit to BNSI

A group of experts from the Ministry of Finance of Tadzhikistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Djamshed Nurmahmadovic, visited NSI during its study visit in Bulgaria. The visit was held within the framework of an EC project aiming to provide technical assistance to the recently created Department for Monitoring the State Enterprises, subordinated to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tadzhikistan.

The United Nations designate 20 October as World Statistics Day

The General Assembly passed a resolution, by which designated 20 October as World Statistics Day. Based on this decision the United Nations will go on promoting the development of national statistics and improving their comparability, coordinating the statistical work related to the collection, storage and dissemination of statistical information.

130 years Bulgarian Statistics

The Statistical-organizational Department at the Ministry of Finance was founded on 25^th June 1880. This is the beginning of the statistical institution in Bulgaria.

In relation with the celebration of the 130^th anniversary of Bulgarian statistics, NSI created a blog, which is located at the following web site.

The Partnership Group Meeting will be held on 25th June in Dublin.

At the Meeting, special attention will be devoted to discussions and approval of the agenda of the 96th DGINS on ”Measuring progress, well-being and sustainable development” and the 6th ESSC Meeting, Bulgaria being the host of both meetings within the 29 September – 1 October 2010 period.

The NSI set up a web site in connection with the 96^th Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes¹ of the EU Member States and the 6^th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee to be held within the September 29 – October 1, 2010 period in Sofia. The web site address is http://www.dgins-sofia2010.eu.

The Conference is the EU annual forum in the field of statistics, conducted from 1953 up to date.

NSI comments on government deficit and debt data

Participation in the 58th plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES)

The BNSI President - Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva will take part in the 58^th plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians from 8 to 10 June 2010 in Paris. The meeting will be attended by delegations, led by the Directors-General of the Statistical Offices of more than 50 countries, a number of international organizations such as IMF, WB, UNECE, UNICEF and WTO. The European Community will be represented by Eurostat and the European Central Bank.

The plenary session will include discussions on three basic themes:

Eurostat experts on a visit to BNSI to check the management organization of the forthcoming 96th DGINS in Sofia

Eurostat experts will visit BNSI on 2-3 June 2010 with the aim to see how the organization of the 96^th DGINS, to which Bulgaria will be the host country and the 6^th ESSC meeting, is going on. Both meetings will be held in the period 29 September - 1 October 2010.
