The BNSI electronic newsletter on international activities in 2009
This year the BNSI tends to issue a newsletter that aims to present the NSI activity in the field of international cooperation on national level, as well as within the ESS framework. It will publish materials and pictures from the most important international events in which NSI has taken part. The first pilot issue covers current events in 2009, while our intention is to have 2 issues in 2010 – one of them will be devoted to the most important international statistical forum during the year, i.e the 96th DGINS conference and Bulgaria being its host.
The European Statistical System training course has started
The Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute Mrs. Gergana Mihaylova welcomed the participants wishing them beneficial outcome of the training course on the European Statistical System. The course is organized within the framework of 2006 Multi-beneficiary Phare Programme for Statistical Cooperation together with Statistics Denmark as a course provider. The period of its implementation is 1-3 June 2010.

An introduction to active participation at EU meetings
A training course on the European Statistical System will take place on 1-3 June 2010 at the National Statistical Institute (NSI). The course is organized within the framework of 2006 Multi-beneficiary Phare Programme for Statistical Cooperation together with Statistics Denmark as a course provider.
The NSI took part in the 5th ESSC meeting
The 5th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) was held on 19-20 May 2010 in Luxembourg. Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva – BNSI President and Mrs. Veneta Petrova - Head of International Cooperation and European Projects division attended the forum.
On the first day of the meeting, Mrs Kotzeva had the opportunity to participate in the work of 2 ESSC strategic groups, i.e:
The New English Version of the National Statistical Institute’s Website has started
National Statistical Institute opened a new English version of its website. It has the following characteristics:
• User oriented;
• Identical structure in all thematic areas;
• Box of relevant key figures for socio-economic development (inflation, GDP growth, rates of employment and unemployment, etc..)
• Wide range of subject areas - survey results included in the List of standard statistical indicators at national and regional level;
A delegation of NSI visits Russia and Azerbaijan: The Heads of the National Statistics of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Germany meet in Baku
A delegation of the National Statistical Institute, headed by its President – Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva was on official visit to Moscow and Baku. Meetings were held in the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (ROSSTAT) and the State Statistical Committee (SSC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mrs. Kotzeva was accompanied by Mr. Mustafa Zinal – NSI Deputy President and Mr. Veselin Vassilev – Secretary General.
For the first time NSI President takes part in a steering body of the European statistics
The President of NSI – Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva took part in the first 2010 Regular Partnership Group Meeting, held on 26th March 2010 in Dublin.
The NSI President was elected as a member of the ESS Partnership Group, the mission of which is to support the ESSC activities and develop strategic documents in the field of EC statistics.
Delegation from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) of Poland
A delegation from the Central Statistical Office of Poland, headed by the President – Mr. Josef Olenski, was on official visit to BNSI (21-24 March 2010). The President was accompanied by Mr. Krzysztof Jakobik – Director of the Statistical Office in Cracow, Mr. Stanislav Kaminski - Director of the Statistical Office in Wroclaw and Mr. Marek Mroczkowski – Head of International Relations.
Official mission to NIS of Romania
A delegation from the National Statistical Institute, headed by its President - Mrs. Mariana Kotzeva was on official visit to NIS of Romania (18-19.03.2010) at the invitation of Prof. Vergil Voineagu - President. Members of the delegation were Mr. Mustafa Zinal – BNSI Deputy President, Mr. Tzvetan Nanov – Director of Dissemination of Information Department and Ms. Sonia Zlatanova- expert in the same department.
