NSI expert is a trainer in an international training course for the Balkan countries in the field of Business Statistics

Elena Petrova, expert in the NSI Business Statistics Directorate, together with her Dutch colleague Nino Platteel, is training statisticians from the National Statistical Offices of the Balkan countries. It is a three-day training course and is carried out in Cologne, Germany, on 4-6 July 2011. The course organizer is ICON-INSTITUT Public Sector GmbH – Germany, which manages statistical cooperation programmes through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) of the European Commission.

A team from the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia on a study visit to NSI in the field of Energy Statistics

On 4-6 July 2011, NSI experts will train their colleagues from the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia on Energy Statistics.
The hosting NSI unit providing the expertise is the Environment and Energy Statistics Department. A representative of the Executive Environment Agency, Ms Evelina Nikolova – national inventory focal point, will also take part in the training.

A team of experts from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia was on a study visit to the NSI on 28-30 June 2011 with the aim to get acquainted with the Bulgarian experience in the field of energy statistics. The main topics on which the experts from the Environment and Energy Statistics Department shared their extensive professional experience and knowledge were:
• Legislation related to energy statistics

• Bulgarian energy data collection systems

• Energy balances – main indicators

Price levels in the European Countries, 2010

The 2010 main results of price surveys covering about 2500 consumer goods and services across 37 European countries are presented. These surveys are part of the Eurostat-OECD Purchasing Power Parities program, where NSI of Bulgaria participates since 1993.

Bulgarian Statistics Celebrates its 131st Anniversary

On June 25, 2011 Bulgarian statistics celebrates 131 years since its establishment. The beginning of statistics started in 1880 when a statistical department of the Ministry of Finance was established.

For the first time Bulgaria will participate in the annual meeting of the Statistics Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

The President of NSI Dr. Mariana Kotseva will participate in two important events for the European statistics: the 59th plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES) and the Annual Meeting of the Statistics Committee of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The meetings will be held between 14th and 17th June 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland.
