From 6 to 10 June 2011 Bulgaria hosted the meeting of the Steering Committee for the management of the Twinning project AZ08/ENP-PCA/FI/06 "Support to the State Statistics Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan to reach European standards in national accounts, non-observed economy, business statistics and the producer prices index.

In response to the growing interest in the information on services sector and the importance of this sector for the economy National Institute of Statistics offer to the attention of users a new section "Services Producer Price Indices”.

Data is available in Sections “Services” and “Short-term business statistics”. There can be found latest data for Services Producer Price Indices for the first quarter of 2011, time series with quarterly data since 2006 and metadata and methodological notes.

The fifth meeting of the Group “Sponsorship on Communication” was held on 12 May 2011 at Arena di Serdica Residence Hotel in Sofia.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Jaume Garcia Villar, Chair of the Sponsorship Group on Communication and President of the National Statistics Institute of Spain.

The President of BNSI Dr. Mariana Kotzeva was a special guest of the Club of Diplomats-Economists in Sofia. At the invitation of the Club, whose members are trade and economic counselors of foreign missions based in Sofia, Dr. Kotzeva presented the express results from 2011Census. She talked about the preparation of the successfully conducted in February 2011 statistical survey, the methodology applied and the uniqueness of the results.

Delegation from the National Institute of Statistics of Romania led by prof. Vergil Voineagu - President of the Romanian statistics, visited Bulgaria. The delegation of the Romanian side included Adviser to the President, Mr. Ilie Dumitrescu, IT general director Mr. Gheorghe Vaida - Muntean and Director of Population Census and demographic statistics Mr. Stefan Trica.
