In the period 15-17 May 2024, a seminar on the topic of “Development, production and distribution of data in the field of Government Finance Statistics” was held in the National Statistical Institute’s training center in the village of Slivek. The seminar was chaired by Ms. Nina Stoimenova, Director of Macroeconomic Statistics Directorate of the NSI.
The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD took part in the 19th Conference of the International Association of Official Statistics and the International Statistical Institute (IAOS-ISI), which was held on 15-17 May 2024 in Mexico City under the theme “Improving Decision-Making for All”. This year the event was hosted by Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
The Deputy President of the NSI Svilen Kolev, PhD opened a training course on seasonal adjustment of data with the use of the JDemetra+ specialized software, which is held in the Library of the NSI under the “STACE – Statistical methods and tools for time series, seasonal adjustment and statistical disclosure control” project.
Statistical literacy in Europe was discussed at an international conference in Bruges, Belgium. The National Statistical Institute was represented at the conference by the President Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD and the Director of Multi-Domain Statistics, Methodology and Registers Directorate Mrs. Antoaneta Ilkova. The event took was jointly organized by the Belgian statistical office STATBEL and Eurostat within the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD together with experts from the International Relations and Projects Department took part in an online meeting of the Working Group on Exchange of Statistical Data and Economic Information (WGESDEI) of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
The peer review mission of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which was held at the National Statistical Institute (NSI) in the period 26-28 March 2024, was completed successfully with a unanimous high assessment of the work of the NSI and the progress achieved in the last 12 months. The mission was part of the accession procedure for full membership in the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP), of which the NSI has been an associate member since 2019.
In the period 26-28 March 2024, a peer review mission of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is being held at the National Statistical Institute (NSI) as part of the accession procedure for full membership in the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP), of which the NSI has been an associate member since 2019. Participants in the mission on behalf of the OECD again are Ms. Asa Johansson, Deputy Director of the Statistics and Data Directorate, and Mr. Julien Dupont, Accession Coordinator of the CSSP.
“Better data. Better lives.” was the motto of the 55th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), which brought together the heads of statistical institution from around the world and took place from 27 February to 1 March 2024 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Bulgaria’s representative at the event was the President of the National Statistical Institute Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov.
The President of the NSI, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, participated in the 33rd session of the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was held on the 25th of February in the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York. During the 55th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee in Luxembourg, in which Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, President of the National Statistical Institute, took part, the contribution and participation of National Statistical Institutes in the use of the emerging Common European Data Spaces was discussed.
