Censuses in Bulgaria at the Lovers’ Bridge

On September 7, 2021, the 18th census of the population and dwelling stock in Bulgaria begins. On the eve of the most comprehensive statistical survey, the National Statistical Institute and Sofia Municipality in partnership with the Archives State Agency are organizing an exhibition at the Lovers’ Bridge near the National Palace of Culture, which will present historical and contemporary data from all censuses in the country. Sofia residents and guests of the capital will be able to view the posters from August 23 to September 6.

Training sessions of more than 25 000 enumerators and controllers start in compliance with anti-epidemic measures

This week in strict compliance with the anti-epidemic measures start the training sessions of the enumerators and controllers to be employed for Census 2021.

The training sessions are one-day and are organized by the municipal census commissions and the regional statistical offices. The first meetings with the enumerators will be held in all municipalities of the country during the period 17th August – 7th September in halls rented especially for this aim, which are with large enough capacity so that to meet the requirements for preventing the COVID-19 distribution.

The National Statistical Institute presents 2020 data on Deaths by causes and mortality by causes

Since 25th June 2021, the users of statistical information could find the final annual data on Deaths by causes and mortality by causes for 2020. The deceased persons who have ‘present address’ in the Republic of Bulgaria have been included. The regional distribution is according to the administrative-territorial division of the country as of 31.12.2020 by present address.

Data on deaths due to COVID-19 (U07.1 - U07.2) in Bulgaria have been presented as well.

Grant Agreement ‘Statistics on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) 2021 and 2022’

The National Statistical Institute has started work on the ‘Statistics on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) 2021 and 2022’ project in accordance with Grant agreement with the European Commission No. 2021.0038. In the framework of the project, four separate statistical surveys will be conducted:
  • Data collection on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises 2021;
  • Data collection on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises 2022;
  • Data collection on the use of ICT in households and by individuals 2021;

Online conference on project BGLD-3.001-0001 "Novel Approaches to Generating Data on hard-to-reach populations at risk of violation of their rights"

An online conference on the project BGLD-3.001-0001 "New approaches to data generation for hard-to-reach groups of the population at risk of violation of their rights" was held on May 17 and 18, 2021, organized jointly by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency  (FRA).

The conference was entitled "First Results and Next Steps". Representatives of the European Commission, international organizations, state and local authorities, the scientific community and non-governmental organizations took part.

The implementation of the project is in accordance with Grant Agreement with the European Commission № 101034162 - 2020-BG-INNOV.

Project ‘Energy statistics: support to the Energy Union and further disaggregation of final energy consumption’

In April 2021, National statistical institute has started work on the project ‘Energy statistics: support to the Energy Union and further disaggregation of final energy consumption’. The implementation of the project is according to Grant agreement with the European Commission № 101034246-2020-BG-ENERGY.

The project is organized in 2 consecutive in time and independent work packages.
