The National Statistical Institute will conduct a Household Budget Survey in new households

From the beginning of April 2023, the National Statistical Institute starts a Household Budget Survey in newly selected households.

The survey is annual and it is included in the National Statistical Programme 2023. In the survey take part 3 060 randomly chosen households divided into three sub-samples each containing 1 020 households. During the April - June period households from each sub-sample are consistently included in the Household Budget Survey. Each household participates in the survey four times for a month during the 12-month period of the method of rotation sample.

Online voting for the selection of participants in the European round of the European Statistics Competition for Students 2023

Today, March 27, online voting begins for the presentations in the Public round of the European Statistics Competition for Students 2023 . Here you can get informed about the presentations and conceptual projects of the ten teams admitted to this stage of the competition. The task was to develop an idea for the implementation of a video on the topic: Well-Being.

Online voting has 25% weight in forming the final grade. In both age categories - A and B, two teams will be awarded, which will compete in the European round of the Competition.

March 22 was declared World Water Day by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993. Since then, it has been celebrated with various events around the world.

This year, the UN initiative will go under the motto ‘Accelerating Change’.

The goal is to accelerate change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.

'... And because water affects us all, we need everyone to take action. That means you too! ...This is a once-in-a-generation moment for the world to unite around water. Play your part. Do what you can.' says the appeal published on the World Water Day website.

Sixth European Statistics Competition National round results

The National Round of the Sixth European Statistics Competition for Students 2023 has been successfully completed. Students from 310 teams participated in the two stages of the national round - 208 teams in Category A and 102 teams in Category B. 79 National Educational Centres teams from the country participated in both stages. The most teams are from Sofia - 50, Varna - 37, Dobrich - 31, Pazardzhik - 28 and Gotse Delchev - 25. For the sixth consecutive year, Ruse, Sliven, Burgas, Kozloduy, Troyan and General Toshevo have their representatives.

The National round of the International Statistical Poster Competition 2022 - 2023 has ended

For the third time, the National Statistical Institute initiated the participation of teams from Bulgaria in the Statistical Poster Competition, organized by the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) and the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

The competition gives mentors and students the opportunity to demonstrate their talents in using statistics as a tool for studying socio-economic processes and the environment in which they live.

The NSI President participated in the 54th Session of the UN Statistical Commission

March 8 - International Women's Day

Happy Baba Marta!

In the Bulgarian ritual culture, Baba Marta is a symbol of spring and an expression of a wish for health and fertility at the beginning of each new cycle in nature. The tradition is related to ancient pagan history from the Balkan Peninsula. The most specific feature of the 1 March rite is garnishing with twisted white and red woollen yarns.

According to Wikipedia, the tradition is still kept in our days in Romania, Moldova, North Macedonia, part of Greece, Serbia, Albania, as well as in a part of today's Ukraine.

 

Meeting of the NSI President with the Union for Private Economic Enterprise

The President of the National Statistical Institute Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD met with the Chairman of the Management Board of the Union for Private Economic Enterprise Vaska Baklarova.

The meeting was also attended by Svilen Kolev, PhD – NSI Deputy President and Assoc. Prof. Noncho Dimitrov from UPEE.

During the conversation, opportunities for cooperation and future joint projects were discussed. Both sides agreed that concluding a cooperation agreement would be a new step in joint activities.
