On 4-5 July 2024, the Global Conference on Measuring New Forms of Employment, jointly organized by Eurostat and the International Labour Organization (ILO), was held in Brussels. The Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Diana Yancheva, took part in the event on behalf of Bulgaria.
During the two-day conference, representatives of national statistical offices from Europe and the world, workers’ and employers’ organizations, the academia and users had the chance to discuss various subjects related to the future development of official statistics on digital and innovative economy in the labour market domain. Among the topics covered were also the increasing digitalisation of work, digital platform employment, the use of AI and its impact on the domain, the evolving work relationships and others.
The participants in the conference exchanged views on the development of statistical standards on digital platform work, the usage of innovative tools for collecting information and new frameworks on measuring the quality and comparability of data on employment.
The global conference is a forum for discussion of central issues in the field of labour market and exchange of experience in measuring employment, both at national and international levels.
