The official visit of a delegation from the National Statistical Institute, led by the President Dr. Mariana Kotseva, in the Statistical Office of Jordan was completed.
During the visit, which took place from 2 to 5 August 2011, an agreement for cooperation and exchange of experience in the preparation and conduct of the Census of Population and Housing in 2014 in Jordan, the introduction of advanced technology when feeding statistical data, the use of administrative sources in the production of statistical information, national accounts, dissemination of information and statistical information and protection of statistical confidentiality was signed.
The NSI delegation met with senior staff of the Statistical Office of Jordan. The National Statistical System of Bulgaria and the work of the Department of Statistics of Jordan were presented.
Statisticians from Jordan expressed great interest in the presentation of Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva in which she presented the methodological role of NSI in the national statistical system and best practices in the census, business statistics, macroeconomic statistics and international cooperation.
Opportunities for expanding the scope of statistics on foreign trade between the two countries were discussed in the presence of the charge d'affaires ad interim and consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Alexy Alexiev.
This first visit to Jordan paved the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the Department of Statistics of Jordan and the National Statistical Institute and is a prerequisite for further successful development of bilateral relations.
