From 14.11.2016, the National Statistics Institute is launching monitoring “Survey on education and training of the population aged 18-69 years”. The survey is conducted every 5 years in all Member States of the EU with a common methodology and through a harmonized questionnaire in accordance with Regulation (EU) № 1175/2014 of the Commission of 30 October 2014. The interviewing will be conducted until Mid-January 2017 as specially trained interviewers will visit 4 812 normal households, distributed in all districts of the country.

On 17^th November 2016 the last regular meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) for this year will be held. The Committee will discuss and vote on the adoption of the specifications of the 2018 ad hoc module on reconciliation between work and family life.

Experts from the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan are on a five days study visit (24 – 28 October 2016) at the National Statistical Institute within the twinning project AZ/14/ENP/ST/32 “Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistics System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with EU standards”. The topic of the training is “Quality indicators and preparation of self-assessments” and it is part of Component 1 on the project “Statistical Quality Management System”.

A meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics will be held on 19 October at which the European Commission will present a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 99/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Statistical Programme 2013 - 2017, by extending it to 2018 - 2020, as well as the accompanying impact assessment.

The Conference is the main forum in the European Union for discussing the future and the development of the European Statistical System (ESS). It is held annually in one of the EU Member States. The Director-General of the host country’s National Statistical Institute acts as chairperson. The Heads of the European National Statistical Offices, representatives from the European Commission (Eurostat), the UN and the OECD participate in the conference.

NSI started monitoring of continuing professional training of employees in the enterprises for 2015, which is included in the National Statistical Programme for 2016 with mandatory participation.

In the period from June 27 to July 1, 2016 the National Statistical Institute hosts the second study visit within the twinning project AZ/14/ENP/ST/32  ‘Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistical System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with EU standards’.

An official delegation from Georgia with representatives from government institutions, parliament and experts was on a visit to the National Statistical Institute. The delegation was led by Dimitri Khundadze, Chair of the Parliament Committee on Healthcare and Social Issues. Members of the delegation were Deputy Ministers of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, and Education and Science. The Deputy Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Tengiz Tsekvava was also present at the meeting.
