Official delegation from Georgia visited the NSI

An official delegation from Georgia with representatives from government institutions, parliament and experts was on a visit to the National Statistical Institute. The delegation was led by Dimitri Khundadze, Chair of the Parliament Committee on Healthcare and Social Issues. Members of the delegation were Deputy Ministers of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, and Education and Science. The Deputy Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Tengiz Tsekvava was also present at the meeting.

Eurostat is launching a survey to collect quantitative and qualitative information on the current administrative burden faced by businesses reporting intra-EU trade in goods (Intrastat) required by the current legislation and on the future potential burden derived from the Intrastat re-design alternatives.

The President of the National Statistical Institute participated in the 47th Session of the UN Statistical Commission

The NSI President Sergey Tsvetarsky participated in the 47th session of the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC), which took place on March 8 - 11 in New York. The meeting discussed the impact of the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the technological advances on the production of statistical data. Representatives of the Statistical Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) shared their experiences on leading topics in the global agenda - modernisation of statistics and climate change.
 

Students from "St. Kliment Ohridski" Sofia University are learning digitization processes at the NSI

On March 9, 2016 at "Press Centre Hall" of the NSI were held two training seminars for students from "Library and Information and Cultural Policy" department at the Philosophy Faculty of "St. Kliment Ohridski" Sofia University. Students are in their first year in the "Library and Information Science" specialty. For the second consecutive year the NSI supports the learning process of the department and the visit of the students is within the framework of "Introduction to digitization" course.

The NSI will conduct a survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2016’ during the March - May 2016 period

In March, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches conducting of the survey on ‘Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2016’.

Regulation No. 1177/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council establishes a common framework for systematic production of statistics in the European Union on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) which includes comparable and timely information on current status and dynamics of income, as well as the level and structure of poverty and social exclusion at national and European level.

Upcoming session of the United Nations Statistical Commission

In the period 4 - 11 March 2016 at the UN Headquarters, New York, the President of the National Statistical Institute, Sergey Tsvetarsky, will take part in the most authoritative forum of the International Statistical System, the 47th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC). As of January 1st, 2013 Bulgaria is an elected member of UNSC. The forum will discuss a number of topics of global importance for the development of statistics worldwide.

The European Statistical System Committee meets on 11 February 2016

On 11 February 2016 at Eurostat, Luxembourg, will be held the 28th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC). This is the first ESSC meeting for the year out of total of four regular annual meetings of the Committee. It is chaired by Eurostat and attended by the Heads of the National Statistical Institutes of the EU Member States and representatives of ECB, OECD and EFTA countries.

On February 3, 2016 in Tbilisi, Georgia, the National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria and the National Statistics Office of Georgia signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of statistics. On the Bulgarian side the Agreement was signed by Ms. Diana Yancheva, Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute, and on the Georgian one by Ms. Meri Daushvili, Executive Director of the National Statistics Office.

An article with statistical data on marriages, divorces and births in Bulgaria at the beginning of the 21st century is published in Bulgarian and English in Statistics Explained - web-based system for online dissemination of Eurostat publications. National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria has participated in the pilot project implemented by Eurostat together with the Member States.
