First coordination meeting between Bulgaria and Estonia on statistics

The Deputy President of the NSI Diana Yancheva will take part in the first coordination meeting between Bulgaria and Estonia on the preparation of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, to be held in Tallinn, Estonia, between 12 - 15 December 2016.

Ms. Yancheva will hold preparatory talks with her colleagues from Statistics Estonia in order to establish cooperation with the team in charge of organising and conducting the Estonian Presidency and to discuss general coordination matters.

NSI’s Digital library with renovated website

The renovated website of the digital library of the National Statistical Institute was launched. 10 years now the NSI distributes online statistical information and the digital information resources are available globally. Free access is provided to over 1 200 000 digital pages of statistical information. The library site is bilingual. Search on demand is available both in Bulgarian and English. Started is the new ‘Interesting Facts’ rubric which will contain interesting facts about the activities of the statistical institution.

Over two million Bulgarians celebrate on December 6

On December 6, people in Bulgaria celebrate their name day as well as fishermen, sailors, bank employees and dealers. The day was chosen for the official day of our sea city of Bourgas.

The National Statistical Institute commemorates the celebration by presenting updated statistical information that will help you to understand how much more people named after Nikolay and its derivatives you can meet with and as well as to appreciate how important is the role of fish, banks and trade in your life.

European Statistical Programme to be discussed at working party meeting in Brussels

On 6 December 2016 the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in a meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) No 99/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Statistical Programme 2013 - 2017, by extending it to 2018 - 2020.

Working meeting in Rome on the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

In relation to the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union the President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky will conduct a working visit on the preparation and holding of the Presidency in the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) in Rome between 30 November and 1 December 2016. During the visit Mr. Tsvetarsky will familiarise himself with Italy’s extensive experience in chairing the Council Working Party on Statistics.

At the meeting of The National Statistical Council (NSC), held on November 24, 2016, the Report on the implementation of the National Statistical Programme and the Activity of the NSI in 2016 was discussed and adopted. A detailed review of the implementation of all statistical surveys and strategic priorities in 2016 was made in the Report. The members of the National Statistical Council expressed their positive opinion on its content and scope.

On November 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the premises of the NSI, under the chairmanship of Prof. Hristina Vucheva a meeting of the National Statistical Council (NSC), which is the highest advisory body in the field of statistics at the national level, will be held.

The Report on the implementation of the National Statistical Programme and the Activity of the NSI in 2016 will be presented and discussed at the meeting.

European Statistical System launches its Facebook page

Dear users,

The European Statistical System (ESS) has launched its Facebook page, “European Statistics”, where it will provide users with an easier access to European statistics by presenting and explaining them in an understandable way.

The ESS includes the 28 EU Member States and the countries that belong to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. In partnership, ESS members are responsible for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics.

November 20 - World Day of the Child

• November 20, 1954 was declared by the UN and UNESCO as World Day of the Child.
• On November 20, 1959 the 14th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a Declaration on the Rights of the Child.
• On 20 November, 1989 the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, signed by leaders of 54 countries.
The National Statistical Institute offers to users’ attention up to date statistical data that reveal some aspects of the lives of children in Bulgaria.
 

NSI is launching monitoring “Survey on education and training of the population aged 18-69 years”

From 14.11.2016, the National Statistics Institute is launching monitoring “Survey on education and training of the population aged 18-69 years”. The survey is conducted every 5 years in all Member States of the EU with a common methodology and through a harmonized questionnaire in accordance with Regulation (EU) № 1175/2014 of the Commission of 30 October 2014. The interviewing will be conducted until Mid-January 2017 as specially trained interviewers will visit 4 812 normal households, distributed in all districts of the country.
