Business Conjuncture, April 2021
In April 2021, the total business climate indicator remains approximately to its level from the previous month. A reduction of the indicator is observed in industry and construction, in retail trade preserves its level from March, and in service sector, an increase is registered.
Trips of Bulgarian Residents Abroad and Arrivals of Visitors from Abroad to Bulgaria in March 2021
In March 2021, in the conditions of the continuing epidemic situation, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 251.5 thousand, or by 9.0% above the registered in March 2020 when the state of emergency first was introduced in the country in connection with the global spread of the COVID-19.
In March 2021, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 287.9 thousand or by 8.0% less in comparison with March 2020.
Activity and condition of accommodation establishments during the state of emergency in March 2021
In April 2021, the National Statistical Institute conducted the monthly inquiry survey of the managers of accommodation establishments to gather accurate and timely information on the state and development of their businesses during the ensuing epidemic situation in the country.
Situation of the non-financial enterprises in the epidemic situation in March 2021
Main results from the short business survey amongst the non-financial enterprises, aiming at presenting information on the economic effects from the declared state of emergency and the ensuing epidemic situation in the country due to COVID-19.
Education in the Republic of Bulgaria for 2020/2021 School Year
The main results from the National Statistical Institute annual comprehensive surveys characterizing the activity of educational institutions are as follows:
- In 2020/2021 school year in pre-primary education (kindergartens and preparatory groups at schools) were enrolled 215.7 thousand children.
- In 2020, the number of basic education graduates was 59.9 thousand students and graduates from general and vocational schools were respectively 25.5 and 19.6 thousand students.
- In 2020/2021 academic year, there were 219.8 thousand students enrolled in the different tertiary education levels (‘professional bachelor’, ‘bachelor’ and ‘master’).
- As of 31.12.2020, for acquiring a ‘Doctor’ educational and scientific degree in the country were trained 6 570 persons, of whom 608 were foreign citizens.
Anti-Social Acts and Crimes of Minors and Juveniles in 2020
The number of minors and juveniles registered in the Child pedagogic rooms for anti-social acts and crimes commitment in 2020 was 8 899. In comparison with 2019, their number decreased by 268 or by 2.9%.
Bulgaria and EU: Deficit and debt of General Government Institutional Sector for 2020 (preliminary data)
In 2020, the government deficit and debt of the EU increased in relative terms compared with 2019. In the EU the government deficit to GDP ratio rose from 0.5% in 2019 to 6.9% in 2020. In the EU the government debt to GDP ratio increased from 77.5% at the end of 2019 to 90.7% at the end of 2020.
Deficit and Debt of General Government Sector in the Republic of Bulgaria in 2020 (preliminary data)
According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute the General Government Institutional Sector reported in 2020 a deficit of 4 056 million BGN or 3.4% of GDP.
The Government Debt of Bulgaria for 2020 is 29 703 million BGN or 25.0% of GDP.
Income, Expenditure and Consumption of Households in 2020
The annual total income average per capita is 7 002 BGN in 2020 and increases by 6.2% compared to 2019.
The Bulgarian households are spent 6 220 BGN average per capita in 2020 or almost unchanged compared to 2019.
Statistical data show changes in the household consumption structure in Bulgaria in 2020 compared to 2019.
Inflation and Consumer Price Indices in March 2021
The consumer price index in March 2021 compared to February 2021 was 100.1%, i.e. the monthly inflation was 0.1%.
