Producer Price Indices in Industry, April 2020
Total Producer Price Index in April 2020 decreased by 2.5% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the prices fell by 4.3%. Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in April 2020 decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the domestic prices fell by 1.1%.
Business Conjuncture, May 2020
In May 2020, the business conjuncture in the country marks a positive change in comparison with the last three months. The total business climate indicator increases by 11.8 percentage points compared to April as a result of the positive managers’ opinions in all observed sectors - industry, construction, retail trade and services.
Activity and condition of accommodation establishments during the state of emergency in April 2020
In May 2020, the National Statistical Institute has continued the monthly inquiry survey of the managers of accommodation establishments to gather accurate and timely information on the state and development of their businesses during the state of emergency and the ensuing epidemiological situation in the country.

Turnover Indices in Services in the First Quarter of 2020
According to the preliminary data for the first quarter of 2020 the total turnover index in section ‘Transportation, storage and post’, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data increased by 3.0% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019. In section ‘Information and communication’ the turnover index grew by 4.4%.
The 2017 results of the International Comparison Program
China, US and EU are the largest economies in the world.
In 2017, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the European Union with 27 Member States (EU) represented 16.0% of world GDP, expressed in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS). China and the United States were the two largest economies, with shares of 16.4% and 16.3% respectively.
Administrative-territorial and territorial division of the Republic of Bulgaria as of 31 December 2019
On the occasion of 140 years of Bulgarian statistics, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria presents a new press release “Administrative-territorial and territorial division of the Republic of Bulgaria as of 31 December 2019”. The press release will be published annually.
As of 31 December 2019, the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria is administratively divided into 28 administrative districts and 265 municipalities, in which there are 3 177 individual mayoralties. There are 5 257 settlements, of which 257 - towns and 5 000 - villages, while the settlement formations were 163.
Inflation and Consumer Price Indices in April 2020
The consumer price index in April 2020 compared to March 2020 was 99.4%, i.e. the monthly inflation was -0.6%.
Bulgaria and EU: Gross Domestic Product, first quarter of 2020 (Flash Estimates)
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2020 decreased by 3.3% in EU-27 compared to the previous quarter by seasonally adjusted data. For the same period, GDP in Bulgaria increased by 0.3%.
