Trade in Goods of Bulgaria with Third Countries in the Period January - May 2019 (preliminary data)

In the period January - May 2019 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 14.4% compared to the same period of  2018 and amounted to 7 390.3 Million BGN while the imports of goods from third countries increased by 5.6% and added up to 8 986.2 Million BGN.

In the period January - May 2019 the total value of all exported goods to third countries and EU amounted to 23 308.5 Million BGN, which is 9.1% more than the same period of 2018, while the total value of all imported goods from third countries and EU added up to 25 747.0 Million BGN and grew by 3.5%.

Activity of accommodation establishments in May 2019

In May 2019, 2 328 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 107.6 thousand and the bed-places were 236.2 thousand. In comparison with May 2018, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) decreased by 0.7%, while the bed-places in them increased by 1.0%.

The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in May 2019 was 1 449.4 thousand, or by 7.8% less in comparison with the same month of the previous year.

The total revenues from nights spent in May 2019 reached 76.2 million BGN or by 2.6% less compared to May 2018.

Construction Production Indices in May 2019

According to the preliminary data, in May 2019 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 0.4% below the level of the previous month. In May 2019 the working day adjusted index of production in construction increased by 2.6% in comparison with the same month of 2018.

Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in May 2019

According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in May 2019 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous month.

Production and Deliveries of Energy Products, April 2019

In April 2019 compared to March 2019 an increase is reported for the production of liquefied petroleum gases - by 37.5%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 91.9% and transport diesel - by 52.3%. Compared to March 2019, when reduced production of LPG, unleaded motor gasoline and transport diesel is observed due to planned repairs of capacities, production in April 2019 reaches its normal monthly volumes. During the same period, a decrease is reported for the production of solid fuels - by 10.8%, natural gas - by 33.3% and electricity - by 8.5%.

In April 2019 compared to March 2019 an increase is reported for the deliveries of liquefied petroleum gases - by 5.4%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 22.5% and transport diesel - by 8.0%. A decrease is reported for the deliveries of solid fuels - by 12.4%, natural gas - by 13.8% and electricity - by 8.4%.

Trips of Bulgarian Residents Abroad and Arrivals of Visitors from Abroad to Bulgaria in May 2019

In May 2019, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 762.1 thousand or by 4.6% above the registered in May 2018. The trips with other purposes (as a guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) in May 2019 composed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 39.1%, followed by those with holiday and recreation purpose - 33.5%, and with professional purpose - 27.4%.

In May 2019, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 946.7 thousand or by 0.9% more in comparison with May 2018. In May 2019, the predominant share of the visits with other purposes was 41.9%, followed by trips with holiday and recreation purpose - 38.4%, and with professional purpose - 19.7%.
