Data description | The survey is annual and provides information for the number, type, form of organisation and commodity specialisation of the Retail sales premises. The data are collected from the non-financial enterprises in the country, which have indicated owned or leased premises for retail sales in the inquire 'Retail sales premises as of 31.12' from their annual report, independently from their branch classification by Classification of Economic Activities (NACE.BG 2008, NACE.BG 2003 and NACE.BG 2001). The premises are observed by an established nomenclature for their type and their commodity specialisation. The premise is specialised, if there is a commodity group forming more than 1/3 of the sales volume. The annual data of Retail sales premises are published as total and by commodity specialisation for the country and regional level. |

Developed by NSI on-line based information system 'Business Statistics' and ensured methodological and technical assistance to respondents during the reporting campaign are highly appreciated by respondents and help to reduce their workload. | |

Activity of Non Financial Enterprises for 2023 (preliminary data)
Annual reports on their activity for 2023 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute (NSI) by 461 819 non-financial enterprises, which was 2.7% more compared to 2022. The number of persons employed in full-time equivalent in the non-financial enterprises was 2 217 960 or 1.4% more than the previous year. The non-financial enterprises generated 288 962 million BGN of the value of output at current prices and reported a positive financial result of 35 809 million BGN (the data are preliminary).

Annual reports on their activity for 2022 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute (NSI) by 448 409 non-financial enterprises, which was 8.6% more compared to 2021. The number of persons employed in full-time equivalent in the non-financial enterprises was 2 220 091 or 4.3% more than the previous year. 412 119 were the non-financial enterprises in Bulgaria that submitted an annual report on their activity for 2021 at the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which was only 0.1% more compared to 2020. Their number of persons employed calculated in full-time equivalent (FTE) was 2 129 746 or by 1.8% more than the previous year (the data are preliminary).
