A training course on seasonal adjustment is being conducted at the NSI

The Deputy President of the NSI Svilen Kolev, PhD opened a training course on seasonal adjustment of data with the use of the JDemetra+ specialized software, which is held in the Library of the NSI under the “STACE – Statistical methods and tools for time series, seasonal adjustment and statistical disclosure control” project. The lecturers of the one-week course, in which 15 experts from the NSI and the Statistics Directorate of the BNB are trained, are statisticians with many years of experience, Anna Smyk from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of France (INSEE) and Christiane Hofer from the German Federal Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank).

Mr. Kolev expressed his satisfaction that NSI experts have the opportunity to participate in this course, because the participants will be able to discuss with the lecturers practical questions and issues that they have encountered in their work.

The project leader – Mrs. Antoaneta Ilkova, Director of the Multi-Domain Statistics, Methodology and Registers Directorate at the NSI, who was also present at the opening of the training course, noted that studying and sharing international experience is extremely useful for the production of up-to-date and reliable statistical data in all related areas.

The “STACE – Statistical methods and tools for time series, seasonal adjustment and statistical disclosure control” project is co-financed by the European Commission under grant agreement No. 899218 – 2019-BG-Methodology and is carried out in a consortium consisting of 12 ESS member-states: Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Iceland and the National Bank of Belgium. The goal of the project is to create and operate two technical centers of excellence to support and train specialist in two main areas: Center of Excellence on Statistical Disclosure Control and Center of Excellence on Time Series Analysis and Seasonal Adjustment. NSI is the coordinator of the project.
