The seminar strengthens the cooperation between the European Statistical Advisory Committee and the National Statistical Councils and the Users of Statistical Information Councils of the EU member states and promotes the participation of users in defining future priorities in the different statistical areas. The participants in the event had the opportunity to discuss numerous issues related to the serious challenges facing official statistics, the new requirements and priorities, as well as public expectations at the national, regional and European levels. Among the discussed topics were climate change, sustainable development, technological changes in the development of Artificial Intelligence, demographics challenges related to population aging and migration flows, as well as extraordinary circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

It ensures that, user requirements, as well as the workload on respondents and the producers of official statistical information, are taken into account in the development of statistical programmes.
