The National Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will collaborate in the exchange of information

The President of the National Statistical Institute Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD and the Minister of Youth and Sports Vesela Lecheva signed an Agreement on cooperation and strategic partnership in the exchange of information. The document regulates the provision of statistical data by the NSI and the information systems of the MYS, metadata and methodologies, as well as the possibility of conducting additional statistical research and ensuring access of the NSI to the information systems and registers of the MYS in accordance with the Law on Statistics.

NSI provides methodological assistance to experts from Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Experts from the statistical offices of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina are taking part in a 3-day visit to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute within the framework of the 'IPA 2019 project Multinational Statistical Cooperation Program in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey for future EU membership'. The purpose of the visit is to provide methodological assistance in the calculation of consumer price indices and purchasing power parities.

The NSI President met the Vice President of the Bulgarian Industrial Association

The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, met the Vice President of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) Maria Mincheva and experts from BIA.

The reason for the meeting is the possibilities for optimal cooperation between NSI and BIA. Those present discussed the possibility of NSI providing data, and experts from the Association preparing analytical materials. The analyses will be different in scope, with direct relevance to the Bulgarian business environment.

The President of the Bulgarian NSI Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, took part in a meeting of the leaders of the national statistical institutes of Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria with representatives of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on Statistical Cooperation in the context of the OECD Accession Discussions and the ESS Membership. The event was organized by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics and took place in Zagreb.

The Peer review Report of the National Statistical System of Bulgaria has been published

The Peer Review Report on the Bulgarian National Statistical System has been published on the NSI’s and Eurostat’s websites.  The document is aimed at assessing the compliance of the producing the official statistics in Bulgaria with the 16 principles of the European Statistics Code of Practice. The Third Round of the Peer Reviews within the European Statistical System (2021-2023) emphasizes the independence of national statistical offices, the coordination among different authorities and their modernization.

NSI announces final results for population number in Bulgaria

A little over 6.5 million people live in Bulgaria

The National Statistical Institute announced the final results how many people live in Bulgaria. The results of Census 2021 are released a year after the end of field work and will be announced in stages.

The population of our country is 6 519 789 people as the women are more and there are 927 men per 1000 women. For 10 years we have decreased by almost 845 000 people.
