The National Statistical Institute (NSI) together with the Junior Statistical Academy conducted a survey during the exhibition 'Statistics for Everyone' in the open-air Gallery 'City Garden' in Sofia. 986 visitors participated in the study. Its results outline the positive attitudes towards NSI and the official statistical information that the institute provides.
NSI is highly trusted, as two-thirds of the respondents are convinced of the reliability and high quality of the data of the official statistics. 35% of them answered positively to the question 'Do you know the products and services offered by NSI?'. Over 70% of those who completed the inquiry use statistical information in their daily lives, and 65.3% of them support the idea of statistics and working with data being studied as a separate subject in school. Most of the respondents expressed satisfaction with the work of the NSI, as well as with the initiatives oriented toward students. Opinions were expressed that it would be good to provide more free data, as well as to strengthen the NSI's cooperation with other state institutions in order to reduce the administrative burden on businesses and citizens.
Expanding initiatives to increase the statistical literacy and culture of young people is a strategic goal that is a priority for NSI. In carrying out the activities to achieve this goal, the institution interacts with partners from the state and local authorities, business organizations, education and academia, the media and the non-governmental sector.
