The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, opened the exhibition ‘Statistics for Everyone’, positioned in the open-air gallery ‘Gradska gradina’ in front of the National Theatre in Sofia.
‘The aim of the exhibition is to popularize statistics among everyone, especially among young people, so they can see how useful it can be and understand how they can use it’, the NSI president said at the opening of the exhibition. He noted that the role of statistics with an official source is extremely important for people to be able to navigate trends in society and the economy, especially since official information guards against disinformation.
Atanasov expressed gratitude to the Sofia Municipality for its support and assistance in organising the exhibition.
The Director of the Multi-Domain Statistics and Consumer Services Directorate at the NSI, Antoaneta Ilkova, talked about the content of the panels and stressed that this is the third exhibition of the NSI presented in Sofia, and this year the focus is on statistical products and services, ways of disseminating information, and options for communication with the NSI. The European Statistics Competition for schoolchildren and the International Statistical Poster Contest for schoolchildren and students, in which Bulgarian teams have won first prizes, are important features of the exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by representatives of the office of the interim Deputy Prime Minister for EU funds management, Atanas Pekanov, the social partners, as well as the national statistics of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The exhibition can be viewed by citizens and guests of Sofia until September 18 of this year.
