In April 2021, National statistical institute has started work on the project ‘Energy statistics: support to the Energy Union and further disaggregation of final energy consumption’. The implementation of the project is according to Grant agreement with the European Commission № 101034246-2020-BG-ENERGY.
The project is organized in 2 consecutive in time and independent work packages.
Work Package 1 ‘Disaggregation of Final Energy Consumption in Transport’ aims to develop a methodology and methods for collecting and evaluating detailed data on the final energy consumption in Transport by modes of transport and by specific breakdown keys. The activities will include identifying and studying available administrative data sources, conducting a pilot sample survey via web-based questionnaires and preparing an improved detailed set of national data on final energy consumption in Transport for 2019 and 2020 reference years. Their implementation is based on Regulation (EU) 1099/2008 on Energy statistics, which lays down a requirement for the collection of disaggregated statistics on final energy consumption by sectors, incl. Transport sector.
The main objective of the work package 2 ‘Further breakdown of solid biofuels data’ is to develop a methodology and methods for collecting and evaluating detailed data on solid biofuels, in line with the breakdown in Annex IX to Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action. Participating in this project NSI will identify and study possible administrative data sources for the production, imports, exports and stocks of solid biofuels. The data on solid biofuels will be detailed, using a sample survey and a detailed set of data on the supply of solid biofuels in Bulgaria for reference year 2021 will be prepared.
The expected results from the project activities are related to: improvement of the methodological framework, complementing and extending the produced statistical information in the context of final energy consumption in Transport sector and supplies of solid biofuels, as well as improving the quality and accuracy of these data.
The duration of the project is 36 months and it will end in March 2024.
