Household Income, Expenditure and Consumption during the First Quarter of 2021
The total income average per household member during the first quarter of 2021 is 1 830 BGN and increases by 6.9% compared to the same quarter of 2020.
The total expenditure average per household member during the first quarter of 2021 is 1 607 BGN and increases by 8.2% in comparison to the same quarter of 2020.
The consumption of main food products average per household member during the first quarter of 2021 changes insignificantly compared to the same quarter of 2020.

According to the seasonally adjusted data, the GDP has a negative growth of 1.8% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Creches in 2020
The number of detached crèches and groups in kindergartens functioning in the country as of 31.12.2020 was 838 with 32 575 places in them.
The number of children accommodated in crèches at the end of the year was 29 238. 15 169 of them were boys, and 14 069 - girls.
The total number of places in crèches per 100 children aged up to 3 years as of 31.12.2020 was 17.7 and the coverage of children brought up in crèches - 15.9 per 100 children aged up to 3 years.
Price Indices in Agriculture, First Quarter of 2021
The producer price index in agriculture in the first quarter of 2021 increased by 18.6% in comparison with the same quarter of 2020. The price index of crop output increased by 28.9% while the animal output decreased by 3.7%. In comparison with the previous year, the prices of agricultural output went up by 16.8%, as in crop output they increased by 24.8%, and in animal output a slight decrease of 0.6% was registered.
The index of prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the first quarter of 2021 was higher by 1.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and by 3.3% compared to 2020.
Employees under Labour Contract and Gross Average Wages and Salaries, First Quarter of 2021
According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute at the end of March 2021 the number of employees under labour contract increased by 1.5% as compared to the end of December 2020 and reached 2.26 million.
In the first quarter of 2021 in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2020 the average monthly wages and salaries increased by 1.7% getting 1 462 BGN.
Trade in goods of Bulgaria with EU in the Period January - February 2021 (preliminary data)
In the period January - February 2021 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to the EU increased by 3.6% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 6 616.5 Million BGN while the imports of goods to Bulgaria from the EU grew by 2.9% and reached 6 512.3 Million BGN.
In February 2021 the exports to the EU increased by 4.2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 3 309.6 Million BGN while the imports grew by 6.2% and added up to 3 428.4 Million BGN.
Trade in goods of Bulgaria with Third Countries in the Period January - March 2021 (preliminary data)
In the period January-March 2021 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries decreased by 1.0% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 5 025.3 Million BGN while the imports of goods from third countries grew by 7.2% and added up to 6 519.3 Million BGN.
In the period January-March 2021 the total value of all exported goods to third countries and EU amounted to 15 388.5 Million BGN, which is 7.3% more than the same period of the previous year, while the total value of all imported goods from third countries and EU added up to 17 063.8 Million BGN and grew by 9.2%.
Deaths in the First Quarter of 2021 (preliminary data)
The number of deaths in the first quarter of 2021 (1st – 13th week) is 36 152 and the crude mortality rate - 21.1‰. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of deaths has increased by 7 491 or 26.1%. Mortality among males (22.9‰) is higher than among females (19.3‰).
