The National Statistical Institute has started work on the ‘2024 EU-LFS eight-yearly variables on ‘young people on the labour market’ and ‘educational attainment, including education interrupted or abandoned’ project. The implementation of the project is according to the Grant Agreement with the European Commission No. 101136420-2023-BG-LFS.
The additional variables on ‘young people on the labour market’ and ‘educational attainment, including education interrupted or abandoned’ are included in the regular 2024 Labour Force Survey following the requirements of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2447 of 30 September 2022 and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/2312 of 25 November 2022.
The aim of the 2024 LFS project is to provide more detailed and comparable at the EU level information on the degree of the formal education or training which a person started but not successfully completed, the main reason for abandoning the formal education and training activity and to measure over- and under-qualification against the formal education and possible mismatches against the field of the formal education or skills.
The results will provide valuable input for developing of EU policies related to young people on the labour market and their educational attainment.
The project duration is 22 months, ending in May 2025.
