Twenty-seven high schools teams from Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas, Pernik, Pazardzhik, Kozloduy, Troyan, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Silistra and Shumen participated in the first Statistical Datathon for students.
In the new competition organized by the National Statistical Institute, 10th to 12th-grade students from secondary schools in the country have the right to compete.
In the first round of the Datathon, the participants have until May 28 to solve a case study on the topic "The influence of physical activity on the health status of the population in Bulgaria" - to establish what the health status of the population is, to determine the factors for physical activity and development trends, as well as to indicate opportunities to improve the situation. The condition is to use only NSI and Eurostat data.
Depending on the team's performance, a special jury will select those who will continue in the second stage of the competition. The teams will have 48 hours, during which, under the supervision of the jury, at a place determined by NSI, they must prepare a development on a topic that will be announced immediately before the start of this stage.
At the final, the participants will present the development to the jury as a presentation.
The winners will receive certificates and cash prizes for good performance, and the awarded works will be published on the NSI website.
