The National Round of the Sixth European Statistics Competition for Students 2023 has been successfully completed. Students from 310 teams participated in the two stages of the national round - 208 teams in Category A and 102 teams in Category B. 79 National Educational Centres teams from the country participated in both stages. The most teams are from Sofia - 50, Varna - 37, Dobrich - 31, Pazardzhik - 28 and Gotse Delchev - 25. For the sixth consecutive year, Ruse, Sliven, Burgas, Kozloduy, Troyan and General Toshevo have their representatives.
The National Statistical Institute is proud of the established tradition of teachers and students looking forward to the competition. The broad participation in it is a result of the joint work of the educational institutions and the NSI team. The knowledge and skills that young people acquire in its course are a guarantee of high achievements in the following educational levels as well.
Category A winners are:
1. ‘SUPERSTAT’ team from National High School in Finance and Business, Sofia with 99.63 points;
2. Team ‘SEARCH’ from High School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Pernik with 99.25 points;
3. Team ‘DATAWAVE’ from National Trade and Banking High School, Sofia with 98.69 points;
4. Team ‘OLD-STARS’ from Vocational High School of Economics, Shumen with 98.50 points;
5. Team ‘ANDROMEDA’ from High School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Haskovo with 97.38 points.
Category B winners are:
1. Team 'TEAM-PRO' from Vocational High School of Economics and Management, Pazardzhik with 99.25 points;
2. Team 'VELOCITY' from Foreign Languages High School ‘Vasil Karagyozov’, Yambol with 98.88 points;
3. 'BLITZKRIEG' team from Varna Secondary School of Commerce with 98.69 points;
4. Team 'PGZGT3' from Vocational School of Agriculture 'Todor Rachinski', General Toshevo with 98.50 points;
5. Team 'YBP' from Secondary School ‘P.R. Slaveykov’, Kardzhali with 98.13 points.
An additional stage in the Competition at the national level will be held this year as well. The first five teams from each category get the right to compete for participation in the European round. They will have the opportunity to present and defend their conceptual video projects on the topic of 'Well-Being' at a public competition that will be held on April 8.
Idea projects will be evaluated in two ways: by online preliminary voting and by a jury. The two teams from each category with the highest overall score will film a two-minute video, with which they will represent Bulgaria at the European round of the Competition.
