The National Statistical Institute has started work on the “Labour Force Survey (LFS) - Statistical infrastructure under IESS - 2021 module” project. The implementation of the project is according to the Grant Agreement with the European Commission No. 101016529 - 2021-BG-LFS.
The Labour Force Survey is the main source of information on the situation and trends in the labour market in the country. From reference year 2021 onwards the new framework regulation on Integrated European Social Statistics (Regulation (EU) 2019/1700 of the European Parliament and of the Council), and its implementing regulations require substantial changes to the national LFS. The changes are affecting significant part of the data production process: definitions, new or revised variables to be collected, reorganisation of the fieldwork by introducing mixed mode of data collection, development of methodology for imputation of missing income information etc.
The main goal of the project is achieving compliance with the legal provisions governing the EU-LFS from 2021, as set out in Regulation (EU) 2019/1700 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and in particular Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2240 for labour force survey. The implementing act includes also collecting data on the first set of eight-yearly variables (regular module) to analyse the labour market situation of migrants and their immediate descendants.
The data collected from the module should provide important information for policies related to the integration of migrants, including initiatives to improve language and professional skills, and to ease qualifications recognition and access to the labour market
The project duration is 25 months, ending in September 2022.
