The President of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva and the Director of “European and International Cooperation and Coordination” Directorate Mrs. Eleonora Avramova will take part in the 11th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC), which will be held on 17 November 2011 in Eurostat.
The participants in the meeting will discuss the strategic priorities for the Annual Work Programme 2013. A special attention will be paid on the priority setting which implementation will reduce the costs of the national statistical institute. The discussions will be devoted to the report of the Task Force on the revision of Regulation 223/2009 on European statistics related to strengthen the professional independence, use and management of administrative records, more clear definition of the coordination role of the national statistical institutes and development of basic principles for the “Commitments on Confidence in Statistics”.
The reports on the work of the Sponsorship on Communication and the Sponsorship on Measuring Progress, Well-being and Sustainable Development, in which Bulgaria takes an active part, will be presented for adoption.
On 16 November 2011 Mrs. Eleonora Avramova will participate in the meeting of the Directors General of the countries of the European Neighborhood Policy – South Countries. On the event a new Eurostat strategy for long-term cooperation with the countries of the region will be considered. Proposal on the extension of the Medstat III programme (regulating the cooperation with the Mediterranean countries, which are non-EU members) will be made in order to create a future framework for this cooperation, oriented towards sector programmes.
