A training course on the European Statistical System will take place on 1-3 June 2010 at the National Statistical Institute (NSI). The course is organized within the framework of 2006 Multi-beneficiary Phare Programme for Statistical Cooperation together with Statistics Denmark as a course provider.
During the last years, courses on this topic were included in the European Statistical Training Programme (ESTP) and one of the main lecturers was Mr. Kim Voldby Pedersen from Statistics Denmark. Mr. Pedersen, together with Ms Jannie Eriksen, will be the leader of the course.
Besides NSI staff, representatives of Bodies of Statistics and the Bulgarian National Bank will take part in the training course.
The purpose of the course is to make participants familiar with the institutional context of EC and the decision taking process, to enrich their knowledge on the overall functioning of the ESS, its main bodies and the coordination among them.
The participants will be trained in the preparation and participation in Eurostat Working Groups and Committees – including ways of coordinating national positions when taking part in high-level meetings (e.g. ESS Committee) and Council Working Group meetings.
The practical case study is aimed at giving understanding and feeling of the working atmosphere of EU meetings, maximizing influence when participating and basic negotiation techniques.
