The teams of the National Statistical Institute and the Bodies of statistics will conduct a total of 316 surveys, according to the 2021 National Statistical Programme.
At its regular meeting on January 6, 2021, the Council of Ministers adopted the National Statistical Programme, as well as the Report on the implementation of the National Statistical Programme and on the activities of the National Statistical Institute in 2020.
Nearly 62% of the new statistical surveys are related to overcoming the socio-economic effects of the state of emergency followed by an epidemic situation in the country. They focus on employment, the labor market and subsidized jobs.
This year the largest statistical survey - Population and Housing Census will be held. The data on Census are the basis for the development of almost all development strategies and public policies in our country. A Population census will be conducted in the other Member states of the European Union also.
The NSI will continue to participate in projects of the European Commission, including the European Comparison Programme 2021, Labour force survey, statistics on income and living conditions, etc.
In 2020, the NSI successfully conducted 259 statistical surveys, and the Bodies of statistics – 47. The 2020 Report pays special attention to the statistical surveys carried out for the first time, which provide timely and qualitative information in order to help manage the Covid-19 crisis.
In 2020, the NSI changed the organization of some statistical surveys and shortened the deadlines for providing statistical information to users. The development and use of a number of Information systems have intensified, allowing online data submission by reporting units and shortening the deadlines for production and dissemination of statistical information.
For the first time, two extraordinary statistical surveys were conducted: "Activities and status of non-financial enterprises in a state of emergency followed by an epidemic situation" and "Activity and status of accommodation establishments in a state of emergency followed by an epidemic situation". A weekly data production and dissemination on total mortality in the country was also started.
The Report also emphasizes the preparation for the 2021 Population and Housing Census in the Republic of Bulgaria; the implementation of the Integrated System for Quality Management and Information security in the NSI according to the standards ISO 9001 and ISO 27001; the participation of Bulgaria in its capacity as an associate member of the OECD’s Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy in a meeting of the Bureau of the Committee on statistics; the preparation of Bulgaria for the 3rd round of Peer Review within the European Statistical System and the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the establishment of the statistical institution in Bulgaria.
The documents were promulgated in State Gazette, issue 4 of 15.01.2021 and will be published on the NSI website.
