From the 29th to the 31st of October 2019 the National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit of representatives of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the field of quality management. The study visit is carried out within the framework of the ‘Implementation of the National Strategy Program for Strengthening of the National Statistical System’ Project, which is funded by the World Bank and implemented by the German GOPA Consultants.
The guests were welcomed by the NSI president Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky. The Armenian delegation was headed by Ms. Anahit Safyan, Member of the State Council on Statistics of the Republic of Armenia, and included three experts from the Quality Management Division of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia. During the meeting, matters related to the bilateral cooperation between the two statistical institutions were discussed, as well as the development of an action plan regarding activities of mutual interest.
On behalf of the NSI, Dr. Galya Stateva, State expert at the General Methodology, Analysis and Coordination of Statistical Surveys Directorate, and Mr. Kostadin Georgiev, Chief expert at the Information Systems and Application Software Department, attended the three-day training. The agenda for the study visit covered a wide range of topics including organization of the NSI and the quality management system’s place in it. Special attention was paid to the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) and its implementation, the IT system for production, maintenance and distribution of the reference metadata and the quality control practices within the NSI. The guests presented the organization of work within the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia and in particular - the work on quality management.
The training was conducted in a spirit of mutual understanding, a number of theory and practice issues were discussed and good practices were shared.
The visit is a contribution to the development of the bilateral relations between the NSI and the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, among which there is a signed Agreement for cooperation in the field of statistics.
