Heads of the Statistical Offices of the UN Member States will Discuss the Sustainable Development Goals

The implementation of the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be the focus of the discussions of the Heads of the Statistical Offices of the UN member states during the 50th annual session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC). The meeting will take place in New York from 5 to 8 March this year, and the President of the National Statistical Institute  Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in it.

The UN Statistical Commission is the highest decision-making body in the field of international statistical activities. Since 1947, UNSC has a guiding role in setting standards and methodological principles for the global statistical community. Its sessions are held once a year.

This year’s session of the most  authoritative statistical forum at global level will also be held under the motto ‘Better data. Better lives’. A number of special events are planned on the occasion of the 50th annual session – seminars, thematic meetings of high-level groups, conferences, regional discussions.  NSI President Sergey Tsvetarsky will hold bilateral meetings with the Heads of the Statistical Offices of the CIS and the Western Balkans to discuss expanding of cooperation and training that NSI conducts for statisticians from these countries. He will also participate in a meeting of the Heads of the National Statistical Institutes of EU Member States, as well as with the Heads of similar institution from all over the world.
