The main item on the agenda was the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a common framework for European statistics relating to persons and households, based on data at individual level collected from samples. This regulation is of particular importance for the ESS and the European Parliament and has been under discussion for nearly two years. During the meeting several articles were agreed in principle, including on the number of variables for which statistical data will be collected, the feasibility and pilot studies, the financing for the implementation of the regulation, the adoption of delegated acts by the European Commission, and the possibility of granting derogations.
The Presidency intends to continue with the examination of the remaining annexes and the recitals at the next Council Working Party meeting on 22 February.
In addition, the Member States were informed about the results of the second trialogue on the Integrated Farm Statistics (IFS) file, which was held on 12 December 2017.
