On 5 and 6 October 2017 in Paris, France, the Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute Diana Yancheva will participate in a conference of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the topic ‘The role of Official Statistics in an evolving communication society’. The event is organised under the auspices of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy with the aim to address the challenges faced by national statistical offices in a rapidly evolving world and help develop new communication strategies for national statistics.
The NSI’s participation in this conference is consistent with the Republic of Bulgaria’s long-term goal of becoming a full member of the OECD. Currently the NSI is developing a deeper cooperation with the organisation in the field of statistics by representing Bulgaria within the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy, in which the country holds the status of participant. In addition, Bulgaria has expressed interest in receiving the status of associated member of this committee, as well as in adhering to the Recommendation of the OECD Council on Good Statistical Practice.
