Between 1 - 8 February 2017 the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in a workshop organised by UNICEF’s Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States on the topic “Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey” (MICS). The survey is a major source of information for the indicators of the 2030 Millennium Development Goals adopted by the UN. The event will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Since 1995 UNICEF has supported the implementation of the MICS survey in more than 100 countries. MICS is a major source of data for child protection, early childhood education, child health, as well as reliable and internationally comparable statistical data for measuring progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
During his visit to Tbilisi Mr. Tsvetarsky will meet with the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Ms. Meri Daushvili, with whom he will discuss possible future joint activities between the two institutions within the framework of the Agreement on cooperation in the field of statistics signed on 3 February 2016.
