On 26 November 2014, under the chairmanship of Prof. Hristina Vucheva, was held a meeting of the National Statistics Council (NSC), which is the highest advisory body in the field of statistics at the national level.

According to the adopted agenda, in the beginning of the meeting was discussed the Report on the implementation of the tasks of the National Statistical Programme (NSP) for 2014, as well as the cross-cutting priorities set out in the Strategy for Development of the National Statistical System 2013 - 2017. A lively discussion was conducted on the content of the document and some recommendations were given in relation to a more detailed coverage of the impact of the limited budgetary resources on the implementation of the activities during 2014 planned in the Strategy for Development and in the NSP, as well as for development of a short summary of the report that contains the most important achievements in 2014. The members of the NSC strongly appreciated the presented report for 2014, which was approved unanimously.

The National Statistical Programme for 2015 (prepared in NSI) was also discussed on the meeting. The NSP 2015 reflects the national needs of statistical information and is consistent with the priorities set in the annual European Statistical Programme for 2015 and the five-year Statistical Work Programme 2013 - 2017 of Eurostat. The proposals from the Bodies of Statistics and the Bulgarian National Bank were discussed in detail. After the discussions the participants in the meeting adopted the National Statistical Programme for 2015 with one abstention.

At the end of the meeting the president of NSI - Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, presented the members of the NSC with the recent decisions of the European Statistical System Committee and thanked them for the good co-operation.
