The President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in two UN Forums on Geospatial Information Management

At the invitation of the Director of UNSD Stefan Shveinfest and the Director General of Eurostat Walter Radermacher the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will participate in two forums of particular importance to the development of modern statistics: World Forum for the integration of statistical and geospatial information - on 4 and 5 August 2014, and the session of the Committee of Experts on the management of global geospatial information to the United Nations - on 6 and 8 August 2014. Both events will be held at UN headquarters in New York, USA.

During the World forum on the integration of statistical and geospatial information internationally recognized experts will discuss issues related to the integration of information from socio-economic and environmental field by geographical methods, there will be discussions of internationally recognized standards for the development of Geostatistics, the new developments in geocoded statistics, the development of international statistical framework geospatial, and countries preparing for the population and housing census in 2020 will be addressed.         

The second forum is devoted to the initiative of the UN for creation of a Regional Committee of the UN for Europe for geospatial information management - „United Nations Initiative on Global Geospatial Information Management: Europe“(UN-GGIM: Europe). At the forum will be submitted for approval to the work plan of UN-GGIM: Europe. The Regional Committee will provide a unified European approach to the integration of statistical and geospatial information in the process of production of official statistics.

The first plenary session of the Regional Committee of the UN for Europe to manage geospatial information is planned to be held on October 1, 2014 in Chisinau, Moldova.
