98th Conference of the Directors-General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) and 14th Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC)

The President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) Reneta Indjova, PhD will participate in the 98th Conference of the Directors-General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) to be held in Prague, the Czech Republic, on 24 and 25 September 2012.
The agenda items of the Conference are divided into three Sessions: the first one covering Internal ESS matters: Labelling of European statistics and access to micro-data, the second and third Sessions are devoted to the topics: “Meeting new needs on statistics for green economy” and “Coordination of statistics and geospatial information”.
On 26 September 2012 the 14th Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) will take place and its topics for discussion are related to comitology items, among which is the Draft Commission Regulation concerning Harmonised indices of consumer prices: transmission and dissemination of sub-indices of the HIPC, environmental accounts, as well as the Annual Work Programme 2013 for the Modernisation of European Enterprise and Trade Statistics (MEETS). A number of strategic papers will be reported to the Committee.
Further discussions will be focused on the cooperation between the European Statistical System (ESS) and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
Hosting the annual DGINS Conference is carried out on a rotation basis in one of the Member States. Two years ago, 96th DGINS Conference took place in Sofia, end of September 2010, and was devoted to the topic “Measuring Progress, Well-being and Sustainable Development”.
Last year, the Conference was organised by Destatis in Germany and covered the topics “Next generation of the Code of Practice – five years after the Cracow” and “New conceptual design for household and social statistics”.
