In the period 15-17 May 2024, a seminar on the topic of “Development, production and distribution of data in the field of Government Finance Statistics” was held in the National Statistical Institute’s training center in the village of Slivek. The seminar was chaired by Ms. Nina Stoimenova, Director of Macroeconomic Statistics Directorate of the NSI. The event was attended by 17 experts from the NSI, the Bulgarian National Bank and the Ministry of Finance.
In the course of the seminar various topics were discussed such as the revision policies and coordination of communication, also as regards to the EU harmonized benchmark revision in 2024, recording of EU flows in the Government Finance Statistics, the changes and new requirements in the Eurostat transmission programme regarding National Accounts after the recent amendments of the Regulation (EU) № 549/2013 on the European system of national and regional accounts in the EU and others.
Ms. Stoimenova expressed her satisfaction from the beginning of a good practice of cooperation between the three institutions for future discussion of current questions, problems and challenges in the field of Government Finance Statistics, especially with regards to the forthcoming membership of Bulgaria into the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The seminar was held in the context of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Statistical Institute, the Bulgarian National Bank and the Ministry of Finance in the Development, Compilation and Dissemination of Government Finance Statistics, which was updated in March 2024.
