On June 8, 2023, the National Statistical Council, the highest advisory body in the field of statistics at the national level, met.
The meeting discussed the progress on the actions taken by the statistical authorities on the recommendations of the last Peer Review, which took place in Bulgaria between March 28 and April 1, 2022.
Raising the statistical literacy of the different stakeholders was the second theme of the day. It was stressed that the NSI has been working in this direction for a long time, not only with the current users of statistical data but also with the adolescents and young people in Bulgaria; various national and European statistical competitions and contests are organized for schoolchildren and students, where they perform outstandingly.
The President of the NSI, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, briefed the members of the Council on the development of experimental statistics in Bulgaria, a new field in European practice that our country is about to join.
The budget and resourcing for the work of the National Statistical System were also on the agenda for discussion.
