For the third time, the National Statistical Institute initiated the participation of teams from Bulgaria in the Statistical Poster Competition, organized by the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) and the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
The competition gives mentors and students the opportunity to demonstrate their talents in using statistics as a tool for studying socio-economic processes and the environment in which they live.
There was no predetermined topic for the participants to present their knowledge and skills in this edition of the competition. They had to choose their own sources of information, thus proving their ability to recognize fake news. They could also conduct their own survey studies on which to develop their graphical representation of the data and support their conclusions.
The competition was very contested because 165 teams from 34 settlements and 61 educational institutions registered for participation in the three categories. 101 teams submitted their posters by the deadline. The Bulgarian jury of the competition was impressed by the creativity of the young people, their graphic skills and their purposeful conclusions. The talented presence of Category 2 participants is especially inspiring.
Educational institutions from Sofia sent the most posters - 35, followed by Varna - 24, and Dobrich - 19 posters.
